Lynn Nottage is an American playwright illuminating the lives of marginalized people. The first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama twice (“Ruined” in 2009 and “Sweat” in 2017), Nottage stated that, as an African American, she “drawn to the stories of people marginalized by circumstance, who find themselves emerging from a place of darkness into the light, but still don’t know how to fully embrace that light. In our society people who are formerly incarcerated often find that negotiating freedom, while welcome, can often be a fraught and difficult journey.”

With Art for Justice support, Lynn Nottage will produce a new work.
