National Institute for Criminal Justice Reform

Working to reduce incarceration and improve the outcomes of youth and adults in the justice system

Grantee Cohort Fall 2018

Location National

The National Institute for Criminal Justice Reform (NICJR) strives to reduce incarceration, improve the outcomes for youth and adults in the justice system, and increase the capacity of organizations serving currently and formerly incarcerated individuals. NICJR also works in partnership with leading justice-reform agencies, including Columbia University’s Justice Lab. The Justice Lab works for community-centered justice in which incarceration is no longer used as a solution to problems rooted in extreme poverty and racial inequality.

Art for Justice supported the goals of NICJR, but it is principally intended to support the leadership of Vincent Schiraldi, a tireless champion for youth and justice. The grant supported NICJR’s partnership with Schiraldi, now based at Columbia University’s Justice Lab.
