Through artistic expression, The Actors’ Gang (TAG) strives to create effective, original, and unique programming that gives hope and emotional fluency to a disenfranchised population of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people. The Actors’ Gang has received two grants from Art for Justice, one in the fall of 2017 and one in the fall of 2018. Learn more about both grants below.
Funding in 2017 supported a new arts-based wellness program for correctional officers to help heal work-related trauma, which affects both staff and people who are incarcerated, as well as a reentry project using the arts as a safe off-ramp for people exiting the prison system. An other Art for Justice grant in 2018 allowed TAG to continue to develop reentry programs, expand teacher training, and strengthen and forge partnerships.
